What’s In for Spring? 2025 Fashion Trends & Iconic Celeb Looks

And just like that, we’re in March.

The autumn/winter season was a tapestry of bold leopard print, rich burgundy hues, and plush fur accents. Now, as we gradually leave the cooler months behind, we can anticipate a wardrobe that embraces brighter colours and lighter fabrics. Soon enough, we’ll be trading in our chunky knits for flowing fabrics, vibrant colours, and cute spring accessories.

At the end of last year, the Spring/Summer 2025 collections hit the runways and gave us a hint as to what we might expect fashion-wise in the upcoming months. From flowing bohemian fabrics to powder pink and bold prints, there is an abundance of new trends pointing towards a season of romantic elegance and playful experimentation.

So, what’s in for spring?

Girly Glam: The Power of Powder Pink

Move over Barbie, we have a new pink icon in town. We are no strangers to a pink renaissance after having an unforgettable Barbiecore summer in 2023. Now, after the triumphant takeover of Wicked, we’re channelling our inner Glinda in 2025 and falling in love with pink all over again - this time in a softer, more subtle hue.

Powder pink has truly hit the catwalks for the 2025 spring-summer season, with brands such as Brandon Maxwell and Elie Saab lacing this romantic, gentle pink into their collections. Following the breakout of burgundy during the A/W season, we are now entering a more romantic era of fashion featuring flowery garments and dusty pink pieces.

Of course, Glinda herself (Miss Grande) has been seen looking ultra-ethereal in these soft, girly hues. At the 2025 SAG Awards, Ariana stayed true to her Wicked character and wore a soft, floaty pink Loewe gown designed by Jonathan Anderson, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and gorgeous floral appliqué bodice. It’s giving enchanted garden faerie in the best way.

She also gave us a glimpse of Glinda at the 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony in Paris, donning a custom Thom Browne creation that took us back to the 1950s. The garment featured a pink silk drop-waist dress with a bow detail and white opera gloves. She drew inspiration from Audrey Hepburn, emulating a classic 50s silhouette that exudes elegance and class. Probably my favourite look from her!

70s Revival: Tassles & Suede

Pictured: Valentino, Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant, Chloé

In S/S 2025, we are being blessed with bohemian. In the winter months, it was clear that seventies fashion was here to stay, with shearling jackets, bootcut jeans, and big fur coats. As the weather begins to change, it’s clear that this era isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The SS25 collections from Valentino, Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant, and Chloé proved just this, as they all took a variety of vintage bohemian looks to the catwalk. Valentino showcased bold paisley prints, Saint Laurent brought billowing skirts, and Chloés ‘Freedom Collection’ referenced that summer feeling with bright lacey, bohemian pieces.

It’s a reminder of Vanessa Hudgens’ iconic, free-spirited Coachella looks from the 2010’s which epitomised that summery bohemian aesthetic, where a whirlwind of tassels, paisley, crochet, lace, and flowing kimonos reigned supreme. Her renowned cool-girl outfits combined these free-flowing pieces with layered edgy accessories, making for a harmonious blend of boho spirit and effortless style.

There’s a reason she was titled the ‘Queen of Coachella’ - she used the music festival as a way to have fun and experiment with fashion, and our Pinterest boards have never been the same since.

Sheer Obsession: Mesh & Tulle

Pictured: Del Core, Ralph Lauren, Hermès

Sheer fashion has always been a favourite among designers for its elegant and ethereal beauty. It’s not simply about ‘naked fashion’ either; it’s about layering these wispy pieces of mesh and tulle to create sophisticated and whisper-like looks.

Del Core, Ralph Lauren, and Hermès all wove varying sheer iterations into their SS 2025 collections, including see-through boho skirts, sheer blouses, and tulle overlays in shades of various pastel and neutral colours. As the weather becomes more forgiving, it’s the perfect time to have fun layering these sheer pieces to create romantic and textured silhouettes.

The Met Gala serves as the ultimate stage for experimentation with sheer fabrics and wispy textures, and actress Phoebe Dynevor embraced this opportunity last year, gracing the red carpet in a breathtakingly delicate gown that exemplified ethereal beauty. Phoebe’s romantic dress, the first full custom Victoria Beckham look at the Met Gala, featured a soft, sheer pink fabric with intricate floral embellishments that swept into a beautiful train.

Draped in whispers of delicate tulle, Phoebe looked like she’d stepped straight out of a fairytale. Romantic, weightless, and dreamy, this gown proved the elegance of sheer fashion - such a stunning look!

90’s Grunge: Mad About Plaid

Pictured: Acne Studios, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Bottega Veneta

Plaid is so back. For all you 90’s kids who lived and breathed plaid shirts and ripped jeans, this spring trend will be a total time warp - in the best way.

We saw several 2025 spring/summer collections packed with plaid, including Acne Studios, Burberry, and Bottega Veneta. Playful plaid prints (try saying that 5 times fast) were showcased in every colour, from green to browns to baby blue. What all these catwalk look had in common: layering.

In the spring season, when the weather is still giving us a chill (good ol’ UK), layering is perfect. Plaid trench coats. Plaid shirts under jackets. Or, as seen on the runway, pattern on pattern - pairing plaid shirts with plaid skirts or trousers. Depending on your vibe, this staple pattern can be either thrown together for a casual street-fashion look, or tailored to create a more put-together outfit.

And if you are still doubtful as to whether plaid is your thing, let me introduce you to Taylor Swift’s VMA look. Jaw dropping, I know. Our favourite pop sensation rocked the red carpet last September with a green and yellow tartan corset, paired with a long flowing train at the back. This Christian Dior gown, from the 2025 resort collection, was paired with black shorts, laced leather opera gloves, and leather knee high boots.

Has plaid ever looked so good? I’m not so sure. This look was a perfect combination of grunge and glam (and a hint of Reputation, no?). It wasn’t just a look — it was a moment, and one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
